Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you do not see your question on the list, please feel free to contact us. It is our desire to give you the answers you need to move forward with your wedding planning and celebration.
Q: When should I reserve a date for my ceremony? A: Because destination beach weddings are very popular on Florida's Emerald Coast, we recommend reserving your date as soon as you have made your decision to have a beach wedding. Our weekend dates fill up very quickly during the spring and summer months. We will let you know our availability on your selected date prior to scheduling a telephone consultation. A date is not considered reserved or scheduled until a 25% deposit has been received.
Q: How do I schedule a consultation? A: Knowing that most of our weddings will be destination weddings and our brides and grooms will reside out of town, we will schedule a mutually convenient time for a telephone consultation to discuss your wedding needs and answer any questions you might have. Phone consultations may be scheduled by submitting an inquiry through this website, by e-mailing weddings@sandsational-ceremonies.com or by calling 850-502-9593.
Q: Is a deposit required to reserve a wedding date? A: A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a date for your ceremony. This deposit will be applied to your wedding package price, the balance of which must be paid fourteen days prior to your ceremony date. A date is not considered reserved or scheduled until a 25% deposit has been received.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept? A: We accept cash, checks, money orders and most major credit cards. Credit cards and electronic checks may be used for reservations and wedding package fees, as well as orders of prints and enlargements through our online galleries. There will be a $50 fee applied to any returned check. Should a check be returned unpaid that was used as a deposit to secure a session or wedding date, this session or wedding date will be released until adequate deposit payment is received.
Q. How do we obtain a Florida marriage license? A. Florida marriage license requirements are available on this site and may be accessed through the navigational bar above or by the clicking on the following link. Florida Marriage License Requirements If you are not a Florida resident, it is possible to obtain your Florida marriage license by mail through an independent agent. This process takes approximately two months and is more costly, but is an option for those unable to visit a Florida county clerk office on a weekday. We will provide information on this process to our clients, if desired.
Q: What happens if it rains on the day of our wedding? A: Some say rain on your wedding day is good luck ... Obviously THEY are not the ones who planned for months and paid for your beautiful event. Unfortunately we can neither control nor predict the weather. If an unexpected rain shower appears on the day of your wedding, we will make every effort to relocate to a covered venue. We will keep an eye on the weather in the days leading up to your ceremony and keep you informed as to the forecast so we can work together, if needed, on a "plan B".
Q: What beaches are included in your service area? A: We will provide wedding and photography services on all beaches between Destin and Panama City Beach. This includes all of the Beaches of South Walton along Scenic Hwy 30A (Inlet Beach, Rosemary Beach, Seacrest, WaterSound, Seagrove, Seaside, Watercolor, Grayton Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Dune Allen, Sandestin, Miramar, and Seascape). We will also provide services in the state parks in Walton County, such as Grayton Beach State Park, Deer Lake State Park and Eden Gardens State Park. A nominal fee will be charged for travel outside our service area.
Q: Will there be other people on the beach during our ceremony? A: Most of the beaches in Northwest Florida are public beaches, therefore it is likely there will be others, outside of your guest list, on the beach. During our initial telephone consultation, we will discuss the times that are "low-traffic" on the beach you have selected for your ceremony to provide you the greatest opportunity for a more personal and private event. It has been our experience that beachcombers enjoy witnessing a beach wedding from a distance and will not disturb your private festivities other than to possibly offer you congratulations on the lifelong commitment you have made to each other.
Q: What style of wedding photography do you use? A: We employ a combination of traditional and documentary photojournalism. This approach blends the many unique details of the day with the formal posed traditional portraits of family, friends and the bridal party. We shoot continuously throughout the ceremony in an unobtrusive, documentary style and coordinate the traditional posed portraits at a time agreed to by the bride and groom.
Q: Is your wedding photography digital? A: Each wedding is photographed digitally. Professional digital photography has evolved to the point that it is equal to or superior to film photography and offers greater options with regard to photofinishing, custom and collage prints, color on black & white prints, etc.
Q: What type of equipment do you use? A: We use professional grade Nikon digital equipment, lenses and lighting. Back-up cameras and lighting equipment is always on hand should an unexpected equipment malfunction occur.
Q: What type of portrait finishes do you offer? A: Shooting each wedding digitally offers a broad range of finishing options. Most popular are standard color, black & white and sepia toning. Unless otherwise requested, proofs will be presented in a combination of the popular finishes to give you an idea of how your portraits will look in each. Regardless of how your portraits are proofed, they may be printed in any of the finishes noted above.
Q: How many pictures will you take during our wedding? A: Because we shoot digitally, we are not limited to a certain number of poses or "exposures" during your wedding. We do not have to spend time changing film or cameras, instead spending the entire wedding shooting. We will capture every detail of your wedding as it unfolds to provide you an album that will be cherished forever.
Q: When will our proofs be available for viewing? A: Electronic proofs from your wedding will be available within ten business days of your vows. A link to your private electronic gallery will be e-mailed to you that you may use to access your gallery. This link may also be shared with family and friends. Wedding albums and prints will be shipped to you within fifteen business days of your event.
Q: Do you provide negatives or digital files from our wedding? A: We do not believe in the concept of "informal photography", which requires you to develop the film from your wedding and have prints or enlargements made at a lab of your choice. While there are many labs available for discount print production, such as drug stores, supermarkets, and department stores, these labs vary widely in print tone, color and contrast, which may lead to poor quality portraits of this very special time in your life. Our portraits, in all sizes, are professionally color-balanced, cropped and printed to provide archival quality photographic memories that will last forever. Because we agree that portrait prints and enlargements from your beach wedding should not break your bank (or your beach wedding/honeymoon budget), we offer our professional portrait prints and enlargements at rates much lower than our competitors. We do offer CDs containing low resolution images for use in e-mails, electronic media, etc.; however, these will not produce high quality photographic prints.
